AIDAI is an association of all aspiring, transforming and Certified Data Auditors who are or would be pursuing the profession of “Independent Data Auditor” (IDA)in India as defined under Section 10 of DPDPA 2023.
This community of IDA s is a new community which any “Significant Data Fiduciary” under DPDPA 2023 is expected to mandatorily appoint for the purpose of conducting annual Data Compliance Audits and Data Protection Impact Assessments as and when required.
The IDA is expected to be an “Independent” person who shall evaluate the compliance of the Significant Data Fiduciary in accordance with the provisions of this Act.
Currently there are a set of professionals who have been certified by FDPPI to be such Data Auditors through the current C.DPO.DA. certification program. No other organization in India is conducting similar upskilling training and certification. This program is being modified and bifurcated to create an advanced combination of Certifications titled CEDPO and CIDA. CEDPO will refer to Certified Data Protection Officers and CIDA would be exclusive to Independent Data Auditors.
Additionally there are many professionals who are “Lead Auditors” in many systems including ISO 27001, ISO 27701, ISO 42001 or PCIDSS systems or SOC systems or GDPR Systems.
There are Many many professionals them are certified by reputed international organizations like ISACA.
There are many professionals who are certified by organizations in India like DSCI.
It is recognized that all these trained professionals are exposed to the function of auditing corporate practices for evaluating DPDPA Compliance.
Recognizing that DPDPA 2023 audit requires a bit of re-orientation and some new concepts which FDPPI has developed toa much deeper extent, these professionals certified by other organizations are recognized as “Transforming Data Auditors” who should be part of AIDAI.
Further there are other members such as Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, Company secretaries, Internal Auditors, Public Sector auditors etc who are dealing with audits of different kinds and all of them deal with “Data” as an Asset and are exposed to the overlapping provisions of DPDPA in their respective functions.
AIDAI makes an attempt for the first time in India to bring together all different types of auditors into one common fold under AIDAI. Hence they are also considered part of the Transforming Data Auditors and invited to be part of AIDAI.
On top of these professionals who have already taken certain firm steps to becoming Data Auditors, there is a large section of people who are Students, Graduates, and in the early parts of their career threatened by AI with loss of jobs etc., who also want to aspire to be “Data Auditors” and empower themselves to be part of this new community.
AIDAI invites all these professionals to empanel themselves with AIDAI, Engage in its activities, Elevate themselves with Certifications.
FDPPI which was started in 2018 and has become an apex Data Protection Organization in India with Education, Consultancy and Audit as different arms of its activity will mentor AIDAI as it grows up and become an All India “Premier Institute of Data Auditors of India“.
Naavi, the founder of www.naavi.org who is the Chairman of FDPPI and is a pioneer in the field of Cyber Laws, Privacy Laws, Neuro Rights Laws and AI regulation in India provides s the thought leadership for this venture.
A CEO, Governance Committee and an Advisory Group are being constituted to drive the future course of action for this visionary entity.
